The Formation of a New National Alliance

“...we’re all in agreement on doing this, so let’s decide how to do it.”

This was the message from a senior pastor at this year’s GACX Cameroon gathering. Pastors, missionaries, business people, and more from across Cameroon and Africa were in attendance. Event organizers and staff from GACX member Global Church Movements (GCM) brought everyone together to discuss holistic ethical leadership and collaboration. Their hope, to see a shared vision to answer, “How can the church work together to plant a church for everyone, in every place in Cameroon?”

Two questions stood out to attendees, “Do we know where there are churches?” and “Where are there no churches or Christians?” Answering these questions depended on having an accurate map of churches in the country.  So a map began to form. As more information was shared, it became clear which cities and villages still need to be reached. They saw hundreds of villages without a local church and some with no Christians.

“If no one is there, how can we work together to reach that place?”

To reach these villages, they established two points, mobilizing prayer and unified effort. Different denominations have come together to go where there are no churches. Individuals and organizations are joining in prayer and resourcing. All are unified in the vision of the Church reaching Cameroon.

No denomination or singular organization can achieve these goals. However, a united Church, working together, trusting the Holy Spirit can. A shared vision of a church in every place for every person in Cameroon was not the only result of this gathering. A 7-person steering committee will help organize efforts, pursue unity, and promote accountability. These men and women represent many different denominations and organizations. Despite their differences, they share the same heart, a united church reaching Cameroon.

Please join us in celebrating and praying for this new alliance in Cameroon! Here are some specific ways they shared that you can join them in prayer:

  1. The Lord would grant traction in the practical next steps, mobilizing prayer, mapping the country, and accountability in output.

  2. The leaders will continually grow in their walks with the Lord.

  3. Prayer for ongoing connections, coaching, and pre-existing ministry efforts.

  4. Celebrating the small steps to help build unity!
