The GACX board of directors has appointed John Becker to be the Vice President for Global Networking and Partnerships. John will focus on connecting GACX with like-minded networks, facilitating and supporting intentional collaboration among GACX member organizations, and inspiring and assisting the development of regional and national alliances. This is a newly created position, reporting to GACX’s Executive Vice President. John’s VP role will be part-time as he continues to serve as Global Strategy Director for AIM International. The GACX leadership appreciates AIM’s spirit of collaboration in releasing John to serve the alliance in this way. “God has allowed me the joy of initiating ten global and regional networks and many more partnerships over the past two decades,” John notes. “The vision of GACX is a priority for me because the presence of the Church of Jesus Christ, expressed by a local community of disciples readily available to every person on the planet, surely must be God’s will and design. He has provided through his Word and the Holy Spirit, everything we need to accomplish this in our generation.” “John has a deep, experience-based understanding of both the power and necessity of collaboration between ministries,” notes Nate Vander Stelt, GACX Executive Vice President. “He’s coming into this position with a servant’s heart, vision for mobilization, and a relational passion born out of his extensive global connections.” John has recently finished serving a ten-year term as International Coordinator of Vision 5:9, a global network of more than 180 organizations focused on reaching the Muslim world. Having served many years in Africa and Europe, John currently lives in California with his wife Maureen and their four children. Together they have been actively disciple-making and church planting among unreached people since 1994. Bekele Shanko, Chairman of GACX, also shares his excitement to see John join GACX’s leadership team; “The first day John and I met in Cape Town, South Africa, at the Lausanne Congress, God connected our hearts. John is a kingdom-minded servant leader who loves the Church of Jesus Christ with great passion.”
